Peter has been in practice for 24 years in South East New South Wales. He is a former President of the Far South Coast and Monaro Law Society.
PETER’S LEGAL PRACTICE
Peter maintains a diverse practice including the following areas:
SUCCESSION PLANNING AND ASSET PROTECTION
Work undertaken in these areas includes drafting and implementing trust structures, including testamentary trusts, advising clients on business succession and estate planning issues, often working in collaboration with accountants and financial planners.
Peter’s innovations in this area include the “Seniors Legal Health Check”.
Peter regularly advises on estate administration and disputes.
CONVEYANCING AND PROPERTY LAW
Peter has acted in most areas of property law including commercial and residential developments, strata titles, rural properties, old system titles, Crown tenures and commercial leases.
Major developments in which Peter has acted have included: Dolphin Cove, Eden Waters and the Novotel Lake Crackenback resort.
COMMERCIAL LAW
Peter maintains a broad client base and supports a range of clients in different areas of business, including primary industry (particularly farming and fishing), retail and industrial sectors. Peter has advised clients in relation to business structures, acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, business disputes and employment law.
LITIGATION
Over his years of practice, Peter has acted in a diverse range of cases, including intentional torts (assault and false arrest and imprisonment – he was the solicitor in State of New South Wales v. Riley (2003) 57NSWLR 496), complex insurance litigation, trade practices matters and defamation.
He has successfully resolved claims against the New South Wales Government, the Bega Valley Shire Council, the Commonwealth Bank and other large companies.
Peter maintains an active interest in alternative dispute resolution including mediation.
